translated by Kalina Matusin

By the end of September, a team representing FFM Isadora Duncan went to London to meet first hand the English single mother situation. The meeting was organized by the Red Coneim, sponsored by the Fundación Mujeres. Isadora Duncan is a part of the association mentioned. Fundação Mulheres, Isadora Duncan is a part of the association mentioned.

Reunión con la asociación Women Like UsOver two days, we held meetings with different social entites in the UK, like the association Women Like Us, which dedicates its work to the employment of single mothers in the London metropolitan zone. More than 27.000 women participated last year, mediating between them and the contracting companies, for the realization of the partialtime work, just as providing training for the mothers less prepared for the employment.

We also met with Gingerbread , one of the entities that works with single parent families and supports the group, mainly through the personal assessment and the fight against the exclusion.

The third meeting was in the Departament for Work & Pensions  Department for Work & Pensions belonging to the Government of the UK and there we learnt how the service directed to the single parent families worked highlighting the fact that there are professionals specialist in the single parent families that are there to support all the mothers and enable the access to the employment. We, although, find out that it was almost impossible to access to certain means of help that only exist in paper. The process to get to them are practically impossible.

From this page we want to thank all this entities for their warm welcome as well as our partners in the Fundación Mujeres, Fundación Albéniz and Servicio Regional de Colocación del Principado de Asturias. that shared this experience with us.
