National Lottery dedicates the ticket for August 22 to the Isadora Duncan Foundation

León, August 8, 2024 – The commercial delegate of State Lotteries and Betting in León, Francisco León, and the president of the Isadora Duncan Single Parent Families Foundation, María García, today presented the National Lottery ticket for Thursday, August 22, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of this non-profit organization, created by a group of single mothers in 1984.

As part of its commitment to society, the Lottery aims to raise awareness of the situation of single-parent families and, at the same time, recognize the work that the Isadora Duncan Foundation has been doing for 40 years to contribute to improving the quality of life of single-parent families and achieving equality with other families.

The August 22 ticket is an example of the Lottery’s commitment, as a public company, to promoting initiatives that foster a more just and equal society. This commitment is based on a series of universal values—such as justice, respect, and solidarity—that the Lottery shares with the Isadora Duncan Foundation, which, due to its pioneering nature, has been recognized as a special consultative entity by the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

The Isadora Duncan Foundation has been working for 40 years for the equality and rights of single-parent families from the city of León, being a national entity. It began as an Association of Single Mothers and has evolved alongside Spanish society to become the Isadora Duncan Single Parent Families Foundation, encompassing the entire range of single parenthood (single mothers, separated, divorced, widows, single mothers with recognized children, common-law couples, etc.). They are pioneers in creating and developing resources and support services to meet the needs of families. Currently, they are carrying out actions for single-parent families, immigrant women, families in economic vulnerability, gender violence prevention, and activities for minors, among others.

For the August 22 draw, 6 million tickets will be put on sale, which will help publicize the work of the Isadora Duncan Foundation throughout Spain. This draw will distribute 12.6 million euros in prizes, including a first prize of 300,000 euros per series and a second prize of 60,000 euros per series.
