The Isadora Duncan Foundation Visits the Senate to Discuss Economic Violence

On January 22, a delegation from the Isadora Duncan Foundation attended the Senate (Madrid) to meet with various professionals interested in the fight against economic violence toward women, an effort that our organization undertakes through the "Violence Prevention" program.

María García Álvarez, President of the Foundation, Sandra Camacho Pedrosa, head of the Comprehensive Support Center for Migrant Women, and Tania Yugueros Gutiérrez, head of the Violence Prevention program, met with senators from Galicia, Navarra, and Asturias, respectively: Carmela Silva Rego, PSOE spokesperson on the Senate Commission for Gender Violence Monitoring; Nuria Medina Santos, Secretary for Equality and Diversity in the PSN-PSOE Executive Committee; María Fernández Álvarez, Deputy Spokesperson for the Socialist Parliamentary Group; along with Concepción Fernández, former president and member of the Coordinadora de Organizaciones de Mujeres y Feministas por la Igualdad en Navarra (COMFIN), Mónica Ramírez Acevedo, Equality Officer at COMFIN, and Ixaxi Pérez Fernández, Equality Officer at the Estella City Council (Navarra).

This meeting represents a valuable opportunity to exchange political, social, and legal experiences, as well as the possibility of exploring new avenues of collaboration with a shared goal: to achieve recognition of economic violence as a form of violence against women and work toward its prevention.

The Isadora Duncan Foundation feels deeply grateful for this opportunity and proud to have this space for collaboration. We view this as a significant step in joining efforts and voicing our demands by incorporating various perspectives to support the eradication of economic violence against women—one of the most invisible and obscured manifestations of gender-based violence today.
